Day 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park (130km – 3 - 4 hours)

To get your safari started, we will collect you from your hotel, residence, or the airport in Arusha early and head due west to begin your safari at Lake Manyara. This is one of the many lakes of the Great African Rift Valley, covering 325 square kilometres during the rainy season. On the way, you have chance to see some of the Tanzanian landscape as towns and villages pass you by. When you make it to the lake, you’ll be given a picnic lunch and then then taken on your first game drive. On the lake itself you will have plenty of birdwatching opportunities, with over four hundred species know to nest and feed in the area. Away from the shores you’re likely to be able to spot:
  • Wildebeest
  • Zebras
  • Waterbucks
  • Impalas
  • Giraffes
And a huge range of other animals besides. When at Lake Manyara you have the chance to take a canoe out onto the waters, giving you a novel way to watch the animals and get some stunning photographs. As an optional extra activity, there is a $60 per person fee. Once you’ve sated your wildlife dreams for the day you will head to your camp or lodge and have dinner and a good rest. Included in the first day of your Tanzanian safari is:
  • Accommodation at your camp or lodge
  • Overnight stay inside Lake Manyara National Park
  • Lunch and dinner, no breakfast
  • Drinking water, other drinks are extra

Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area (64km – 1 to 2 hours)

Your second day will start with breakfast and in short order you’ll be taken out to the shores of Lake Manyara for another game drive. Morning is the ideal time to watch the myriad animals that populate these lands, the air is cool and each animal is full of energy and desire for food and play. Take this chance to get photos of the lake and its inhabitants in the morning light whilst they are most active. For lunch, you will return to your accommodation, at which point your luggage will be loaded into your tour vehicle and you will make your way to the Ngorongoro crater. The two areas are nearby and you will spend much of the journey still inside the parks and conservations areas that are here to protect the wildlife. The crater’s edge looms over the landscape, telling silent tales of destruction long-forgotten by an old volcano. You’ll have dinner and spend the night in a camp or lodge on the rim of the crater, giving you stunning vistas over the basin below that plays host to a mass of biodiversity.
